Gender equality training course promotes women to adapt, apply, and implement smart agriculture model applying AI in An Khanh commune, Hanoi

Center for Agrarian Systems Research and Development (CASRAD) in collaboration with Action on Poverty in Vietnam (AOP), AVALVE Company Limited in Vietnam successfully organized a Training course on Gender Equality and the Role of Women in Smart Agriculture on November 18th, 2025, at the Military Command of An Khanh Commune.

The training course is part of a series of technical support activities by CASRAD to help AVALVE Co., Ltd in Vietnam. deploy a smart agriculture model applying artificial intelligence (AI) while promoting gender equality and enhancing the role of women in modern agricultural production with the funding from P4G and Australian Aid. 

Nearly 80 participants from different stakeholders  

The training course attracted nearly 80 participants, including: Leaders, experts of the Economic Department of An Khanh Commune, members of the Farmers' Association, the Women's Association of An Khanh Commune and representatives of 09 agricultural cooperatives in the area.   

Commencing the training course 

Ms. Mi Tran – National Platform Liaison of P4G delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the importance of gender equality in agriculture, especially when applying high-tech models such as AI. She affirmed P4G's commitment to accompany initiatives to support women and improve smart agricultural production capacity.

Practical training topics 

The training course was instructed by Ms. Tran Thu Thuy - Independent Consultant on Gender and Development, providing practical knowledge and methods of gender mainstreamed in smart agriculture. Interactive teaching methods combining group discussions and real-life situations help trainees easily absorb, proactively share experiences, and build action plans.

Trainees are equipped with knowledge and skills: 

  • Gender equality and gender mainstreamed in smart agriculture applying AI 
  • The roles, opportunities and barriers for women in smart agriculture models applying AI 
  • Developing action plans to promote women's participation in cooperatives and communities 
  • Visiting high-tech strawberry cultivating models, directly observing the AI-based production process, assessing the potential for local application

The field visit helped local participants see the role of women in modern agriculture as well as the opportunity to apply artificial intelligence to improve productivity, quality and management efficiency. 

Results and Conclusion 

The training course raised awareness of gender equality, provided technical tools and hands-on experience, and contributed to the effective implementation of AVALVE’s Smart Agriculture model applying AI. 

Participants are empowered to develop specific action plans, committed to promoting the role of women in agricultural production, management and development which creates the foundation for a modern, sustainable and inclusive agricultural system in Vietnam.
