
The Gender Equality training is a key part of AOP/CASRAD’s technical support to AVALVE Vietnam Co., Ltd in deploying its AI-powered smart agriculture in Vietnam. Beyond technology, it promotes gender equality by empowering women to lead modern farming. Through AI-based crop management and resource optimisation, the program drives inclusive innovation and sustainability. Funded by P4G and Australian Aid, this initiative reflects a strong commitment to technological progress and social empowerment in Vietnam’s agricultural sector.
Nearly 80 participants with diverse backgrounds
The training brought together nearly 80 participants from diverse backgrounds, creating a dynamic learning environment. Attendees included leaders and staff from An Khanh Commune’s Economic Office, active members of the local Farmers’ Association and Women’s Union, and representatives from nine agricultural cooperatives in the city. This diversity ensured rich discussions and practical insights, enabling environment for smart agriculture adoption and scalibility, and fostering collaboration between local authorities, community organisations, and agricultural stakeholders.

The event began with inspiring remarks from Ms Mi Tran, representing P4G, who highlighted the critical role of gender equality in shaping the future of agriculture. She stressed that as advanced technologies like AI become integral to farming, women should be empowered to lead this transformation. Ms. Tran reaffirmed P4G’s strong commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance women’s capacity to adopt smart agriculture practices, ensuring inclusive and sustainable growth for Vietnam’s agricultural sector.

Expert-Led Training with Practical Insights
The gender equality training in An Khanh featured an interactive, practical approach to empower women in AI-driven smart agriculture. Led by gender and development expert Ms Tran Thu Thuy, the course offered strategies for integrating gender perspectives into smart farming. Through group discussions, individual sharings, case studies, and collaborative exercises, participants actively engaged, shared experiences, and built action plans. Combining technical knowledge with gender mainstreaming principles, the training equipped women to lead agricultural innovation, fostering inclusivity and sustainability

By observing high-tech strawberry cultivation and AI-powered production processes, trainees gained practical insights into how artificial intelligence can boost productivity, improve crop quality, and enhance management efficiency. The experience also highlighted the vital role women can play in leading these innovations, inspiring participants to envision similar applications within their local communities.




Results and Conclusion
The training equipped participants with essential knowledge and hands-on skills to integrate gender equality into AI-powered smart agriculture. Key learning areas included:
